Raz-Lee Security Debuts IBM i BI Tool
Raz-Lee Security has branched out into the business intelligence (BI) arena with a new solution called iBi, a tool that integrates into user applications (green screen or GUI) and can create selected views for data users. The tool lets you control what users see, so that they access only exactly the data they're authorized to view. iBi requires no special preparation and runs over current data, interfacing to applications such as ERP and financial packages. Every field becomes a "dimension," and users navigate by clicking tabs to drill down. iBi uses filters to process large amounts of transaction data, graphically isolating "the needle in the haystack" to help users find exactly the information they're looking for.

Kisco Includes Digital Signatures in Enhanced Report Conversion/Distribution Utility
Kisco Information Systems has released WebReport/400 v11, which can apply digital signatures to spool files converted into PDF format. Digital signatures can be based on self-issued signing certificates issued by IBM i using the Digital Certificate Manager (DCM) built into the i OS or a commercially available certificate from a known issuing agency. The new release can also split up reports into email output, fax output, and local printing based on embedded directives added to the spool file. In addition, it includes these features: automatic FTP transmission of spool files converted and stored in the IFS; existing message queue monitor functions improved with message ID exception processing to ignore selected message IDs; a file monitor feature supporting summary notifications; and automatic report routing based on the user profile associated with the spool file.

LogLogic Endorses SANS Log Management Survey Findings
LogLogic has endorsed and co-sponsored the seventh annual SANS (SysAdmin, Audit, Network, Security) Log Management Survey. The survey reveals that 89 percent of organizations now collect IT data in one form or another to support security, forensics, or compliance business drivers. This IT data is becoming more complex because many organizations are now collecting data from not only traditional IT equipment but, increasingly, from physical plant systems, mobile platforms, and point-of-sale devices. According to the survey, the most useful function of IT data is to provide realtime alerts. Furthermore, the survey states that the keys to a good log management platform are consistency in format, collection, and storage with enough data to answer the "Four W's": who, what, when, and where. You can download the full seventh annual SANS Log Management Survey Report via free registration on LogLogic's website.
