RightScale and Zend Technologies have announced a jointly developed solution for deploying and managing business-critical PHP applications in the cloud. The RightScale Zend PHP Solution Pack provides a pre-configured and open Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) architecture for cloud onboarding that maintains the ability to customize and control cloud environments. The RightScale Zend PHP Solution Pack supports IBM i applications and combines the RightScale Cloud Management Platform with PHP architecture powered by Zend Server.

Through the Premier Partnership with IBM, Vision Solutions is now offering the Vision Availability Appliance, a solution that supports mid-market customers with HA for IBM i environments and includes MIMIX availability for HA protection for IBM Power Systems environments, large and small. The Vision Solutions portal aids administration of the solution while ensuring data integrity in any environment, including those using intra-server, bidirectional, and cascade replication. With the Vision Availability Appliance, the IBM Power System will arrive at the site preinstalled with MIMIX and ready for configuration and implementation.

SugarCRM Rolls Out IBM i Solution Edition
SugarCRM has announced the availability of IBM i Solution Edition for SugarCRM. The integrated solution offers customers more control over their data, the ability to leverage IBM investments, and a flexible and open CRM solution powered by IBM systems for private and hosted cloud deployments. With this release the company hopes to offer users the freedom to choose how and where they deploy their CRM system.

AURA Equipments Releases New Version of PHP Toolkit for IBM i
AURA Equipments has announced that Easycom for PHP v4 is available for download from the AURA website. Easycom for PHP v4 provides IBM i developers with a toolkit to develop PHP applications integrated with existing IBM i applications and data and deploy them on IBM i, Windows, Linux, or AIX servers. PHP applications deployed on IBM i, Windows, Linux, and AIX servers are strictly identical. Easycom for PHP also lets IBM i resources remain available to the PHP applications. Other enhancements include: single sign-on; "local process" execution; independent ASP support; PDO, ADO, Zend Framework; full-state private connection; RPG source descriptions; and XML Easycom interface.

LANSA Updates Web Enabling Tool
LANSA has released aXes 5250 Web Enabling Tool v2, with the capability to offer access to new and existing IBM i RPG/COBOL applications via the cloud; a complete overhaul of the aXes browser-based query, access, and reporting tools (DB2 Query and Spooled File Explorer); and the ability to interact programmatically with 5250 data streams. The new version includes these updated components: aXes-Cloud enhances the current cloud computing offerings available on the IBM I; aXes Data Explorer is a Web-based DB2 query tool for querying DB2 databases on IBM i servers, using the SQL services provided by IBM; and aXes-Robot is an Application Program Interface (API) that developers access when creating applications that programmatically drive 5250 program.

Maxava iFoundation Formed to Support IBM i User Community
Maxava has launched the Maxava iFoundation to provide financial assistance to initiatives and organizations working to grow and strengthen the IBM i community. Initial funding of $50,000 has been provided by Maxava to allow the foundation to immediately offer support grants to qualifying organizations for the general promotion and free exchange of knowledge, ideas, and skills related to IBM i. Applications for grants are welcomed from any not-for-profit organization helping to enhance the broader IBM i community in any part of the world.
