iBoost Launches Multi-Streaming Technology for IBM i
iBoost Systems has launched iSTREAM, a suite of tools for IBM i that uses parallel programming techniques to increase performance of single-streamed batch jobs. iSTREAM can split an existing batch process into a number of concurrent streams, eliminate backup-related delays, introduce robust recovery policies, and modify the program logic of existing applications, all without any changes to the underlying application code. It also implements asynchronous backup and multi-streamed recovery. iSTREAM can be used with ILE applications independently of the language (C++, COBOL, or RPG) they are written in. Backup and recovery elements of iSTREAM can be successfully used with Java applications.

Shield Advanced Solutions announces DR4i, a disaster recovery (DR) software product that provides availability without complexity. DR4i is based on the remote journal technology provided free within the IBM i OS. However, the receivers attached to a remote journal cannot be used to update objects on the target system using APYJRNCHG commands. Stickfish has introduced a new version of Raydesk, its virtual desktop solution. The Raydesk virtual desktop is unique in that it is not tied to a specific operating system. Kisco's Cloud-Based Save/Restore Utility Updated
Kisco Information Systems announces i-2-S3 release 1.05. i-2-S3 interfaces with Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) for storing and retrieving backups for the IBM i. i-2-S3 includes a set of commands that mimic the System i/OS save and restore commands. Instead of saving a backup set to a specific device or save file, i-2-S3 provides a destination that has been predefined by the customer at the Amazon S3 site. The backup can then run without any further intervention on the system including no need for media mounts or other operator intervention. The new release of the software adds several new reports for customers to get hardcopy results for backup operations. One report lists all the backup sets currently saved at Amazon S3. Kisco has also reduced the price to $695.00 for a single partition installation.

Centerfield Announces '7th Inning Stretch' for DB2 HomeRun Product
Since the initial release earlier this year, Centerfield Technology is announcing that its HomeRun version 7.0 is now in use by customers and is available for immediate download. Targeted mainly at DB2 for i5/OS, Centerfield Technology says it has improved the autonomic database administrator (AutoDBA) based on customer feedback, plus leveraged new operating system enhancements and incorporated .NET based state-of-the-art reporting enhancements, which offer an innovative way to view key performance metrics. HomeRun 7.0 has also added two additional 'temporary storage' metrics. According to the vendor, AutoDBA has been rewritten to make it more user friendly, letting users filter, order, and group advice much easier with data grids.
