LANSA has acquired the aXes product suite, a set of native IBM i software solutions that allow 5250 business applications to run over the web without changes or disruption to the host system. aXes, formerly owned by Arterial Software from Melbourne, Australia, is already used by many organizations globally to provide browser-based access to 5250 applications on the fly. The addition of aXes to LANSA's product line enables LANSA to now address the entire modernization process from initial refacing through to redevelopment.

The aXes eBusiness suite consists of several software modules that run on System i, iSeries, or AS/400 systems. The modules require no additional software other than a web browser on the desktop or mobile device. The aXes Application Server, which provides the infrastructure for the other modules in the suite, has a lightweight footprint and will use either batch or interactive Commercial Processing Workload (CPW).

aXes Terminal Server, the flagship product, provides web enablement of 5250 applications with the automatic generation of a highly customizable GUI. aXes Data Explorer Server provides an easy way to extract and then publish live DB2/400 data in a browser or to send query output to desktop applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel. And aXes Spool File Server provides point-and-click access to output queues and spool files, with print-ready documents available in PDF, XML, HTML, or text formats.

Customers can buy the aXes eBusiness suite from a worldwide network of reseller partners or directly from their local LANSA office. You can see a live demo of aXes Terminal Server and download a free evaluation version.
