Cables Available for Power Systems Servers

U.S. Announcement: 111-225
IBM is offering existing cable features to additional Power Systems server models to support the expanded availability of PCIe adapters and their cabling. System Serial-Port Converter Cable (#3930) is used with the 2-Port Async EIA-232 PCIe Adapter (#5289). IB/E'Net 40G Copper Cable QSFP/QSFP available in one, three, and five meter lengths, and the Quad Data Rate InfiniBand Optical Cable available in 10 meter and 30 meter lengths are used with the PCIe2 2-Port 4X IB QDR Adapter 40 Gb (#5285). Multiple modem cables are available for Power 720 (8202-E4C), Power 730 (8231-E2C), Power 740 (8205-E6C), Power 770 (9117-MMC), and Power 780 (9179-MHC) server models.

IBM Offers Performance Management for Power Systems

U.S. Announcement: 611-050
IBM Performance Management for Power Systems provides insight to help ensure IBM AIX and/or IBM i systems are operating at peak efficiency. As a result of the availability of the PM for Power Systems service offering, the IBM Operational Support Services for Performance Management eServer iSeries will be withdrawn from active marketing.

IBM Offers Implementation Services for Cloud

U.S. Announcement: 611-051
IBM is offering Implementation Services for Cloud, which include rapid provisioning of the service; a flexible sourcing model that can enable revenue generation without placing mission-critical applications at risk; low-cost entry points and quick-start solutions to speed time to market and reduce upfront risk; and end-to-end services offering strategy, deployment, integration, testing, and sales training.

IBM Modifies IBM i Licensing by User Offering

U.S. Announcement:311-171
To encourage IBM i end users to move from older technology to Power 6 or Power 7 server technology, IBM is offering a discount off the IBM i User licenses. Effective November 22, 2011, the IBM i Licensing by User offering has been modified. IBM has made changes to the list of eligible servers to include Power System 520 Express server, Power System 710 Express server, Power System 720 Express server, BladeCenter JS12/JS22 Express, and BladeCenter PS70x Express.
