Attachmate Corporation offers the second release of its next-generation product for the X Server market. Attachmate Reflection Suite for X 2011 R2 lets Windows users securely access text- and graphics-based applications on Unix and Linux systems, as well as applications on IBM System z and System i. The software's inclusion of the latest X Server technologies, next-generation terminal emulation software, and a secure file transfer client in a single deployment package lets enterprises seamlessly meet their host access needs during a Windows 7 migration.

Reflection Suite for X provides access to commonly used, mission-critical applications in key vertical industries, such as manufacturing, chip design, oil exploration, health care, telecom, and banking/finance. The product grants access to these key applications from Windows, Linux, Unix, and Mac desktops, and it includes technologies that enable optimal performance over remote connections and application sharing for collaboration on projects.

This release of Reflection Suite for X 2011 provides new features that complement the product's legacy functionality with sophisticated next-generation capabilities, which include:

• Added support to make remote domain connections "firewall friendly" lets remote users access the corporate domain while retaining their ability to access local applications, without compromising permissions or security policies.
• Integration with Reflection for the Web (RWeb) administrator allows administrators to centrally manage Reflection X Advantage user configurations and Unix/Linux access, saving time and enabling dynamic, realtime updates. Additionally, end users can now use a browser to launch RXA sessions from a web page.
• Native support for the 64-bit Windows 7 platform provides better performance and scalability of applications. The product also supports 32-bit platforms.
• Inclusion of next-generation terminal emulation for connecting to IBM System z, System i, and Unix/Linux systems (VT). Next-generation capabilities offer support for the ribbon user experience, trusted locations for locking down macro execution points, and application search, among other benefits.
